Overwhelming Response to Charity Fund launched by bereaved sister of Dublin cyclist Tonya McEvoy

The sister of cyclist Tonya McEvoy who was tragically killed while out on a club spin on Sunday 12th February in Rathcoffey County Kildare has undertaken to complete a charity cycle in which Tonya had completed last year and had also signed up to do again over 3 days from 7th to 9th July of this year

Ciara McEvoy has decided that she will complete ''The Big Loop'' cycle in her sisters honour and has set up a gofundme page to help raise much needed funds for the great work carried out by staff and services at Crumlin Children's Hospital a charity that her sister Tonya had supported previously .

In just over 24 hours the gofundme page which Ciara has set up is already heading for it's initial target of 2000 euro with donations streaming in constantly together with messages of support for Ciara from relatives friends and fellow cyclists . There is no doubt that with such a deserving charity and the fact that it was such a tragic loss of a beautiful outgoing person who did nothing but good and made so many friends through her caring nature that this fund will far exceed expectations . Which in light of the sadness of her loss can only be looked upon as a true honour in Tonya's name and memory.

The cycle itself is no easy task for Ciara with 3 demanding days in the saddle rolling out from Blackwater County Wexford visiting Waterford Kilkenny Glendalough Arklow and returning to Blackwater after covering approximately 330 km over the 3 days

We will be following Ciara over the next couple of months as she prepares to, as she said in her own words '' Do Tonya Proud'' .

We wish her all the best of luck in her training leading up to what will be a very special tribute to a much loved and sadly missed sister, daughter, aunt, friend  and cyclist.
